Throughout this Pokémon Go event, you’ll be able to collect exclusive Winter Holiday field research tasks and certain Pokémon are spawning more frequently in the wild. The Winter Holiday event also sees the release of Mega Glalie! It’s important to remember that the Winter Holiday event has been split into two parts – Part 1 and Part 2. As of Friday, 23rd December, we’re now in the second half of the proceedings. On this page: Here are the Winter Holiday Part 1 field research tasks:

Thank you to SilphScience from reddit for the help with this information! If you catch a Kyurem via five-star raid before January 1, 2023 at 10am (local time), it will know the ice-type Charged Attack, Glaciate. Kyurem’s signture move, Glaciate, has the following Power in Pokémon Go:
Trainer Battles – 60 Power Gyms and Raids – 160 Power
If you’re curious as to whether this will make a difference in Master League, the short answer is no. As for raids, this is a devastating move that you will want to have access to if battling anything that is particularly weak to Ice-type attacks — that’s Flying, Grass and Ground. Part 1 of the Winter Holiday event also saw the release of Mega Glalie in Pokémon Go! This mega evolved ice-type Pokémon will be taking the Mega Raid spotlight, so make sure you take the time to battle it! You can also now find shiny Bergmite and Avalugg in Pokémon Go. The following Pokémon are appearing more frequently in the wild throughout Part 2 of the Winter Holiday event:
Pikachu wearing a Winter Carnival outfit Eevee wearing a Holiday Hat Delibird wearing a Holiday Ribbon Cubchoo wearing a Holiday Ribbon Swinub Snorunt Spheal Bergmite Vanillite Snover
If you’re lucky, you may enounter one of the following rare spawns:
Stantler Alolan Sandshrew Cryogonal
The 7km egg pool will have the following Pokémon in them:
Sneasel Smoochum Bergmite Amaura Crabrawler
You can also battle the following Pokémon in raids throughout Winter Holiday Part 1:
A new collection of stickers and avatar items, including a Father Christmas costume, can now be purchased from the in-game shop.
Finally, you can purchase a timed research quest from the in-game shop throughout the Winter Holiday event.
This quest costs £4.49, $4.99 or the equivalent pricing tier in your local quest. You can not purchase it using PokéCoin.
If you do purchase this quest, you must complete it before 8pm (local time) on Saturday, 31st December. If you miss this deadline, the quest will expire and you won’t be able to earn all of the rewards it offers. These rewards include two Incubators, an Incense, Abomasnow Mega Energy and a new avatar pose.
The Season of Mythical Wishes continues with the Winter Holiday event, which has brought Mega Glalie to Pokémon Go. Don’t forget to partake in the new Go Battle League season.
Elsewhere, be sure to use Daily Adventure Incense for the chance of encountering Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos and Galarian Moltres.
Costumed Pokémon
Several Pokémon will be making their debut in a new costume as part of this event. The main one is Eevee and all of its evolutions — each wearing a Holiday Hat. The only way to get the Eeveelutions in this costume is to evolve an Eevee that is wearing a Holiday Hat; they will not be appearing in the wild or in raids.
Additionally, Trainers will be able to evolve their Cubchoo wearing a Holiday Ribbon into Beartic wearing a Holiday Ribbon for the first time.
Winter Wonderland
The Winter Wonderland will run from Saturday, 24th December to Sunday, 25th December. Trainers can expect one extra special trade per day and Daily Adventure Incense to last for 30 minutes, instead of the usual 15.
Additionally, the number of guaranteed lucky Pokémon a trainer can receive by trading a Pokémon caught in 2017 has been increased from 10 to 15. This feature only goes live with the Winter Wonderland event, not the beginning of Part 2, as clarified by Niantic below:
Lastly, you can take part in a Collection Challenge that rewards you with a Galarian Mr Mime encounter, along with XP and an Incense.
Hisuian Avalugg raid day
The final event is the Hisuain Avalugg Raid Day on Saturday, 24th December between 2pm to 5pm (local time). The contents of this event are not hard to guess – it will see the release of Hisuain Avalugg in Pokémon Go, with this Pokémon appearing in raids!
Don’t forget – the Winter Holiday event itself is divided into two parts, with Part 2 starting on Friday, 23th December at 10am (local time).
This event has been divided into two parts, with Part 2 starting on Friday, 23th December at 10am (local time). We can expect to see a number of changes to the Winter Holiday event, such as different Pokémon appearing more frequently in the wild, when this change over occurs.
Don’t forget –ƒ there are a number of other events taking place throughout the Winter Holiday event, so keep an eye on Pokémon Go as 2022 draws to a close.
Hope you enjoy the Winter Holiday event!
